About Jody’s Statue

Joe White knows why your situation is important and why it means so much. In 1978, Joe's son Jody was killed in an automobile accident. Words aren't adequate to describe how that phone call changes a person's world.

The unexpected loss of a child, a parent, or a spouse is truly a tragedy. When that loss comes as a result of an accident or someone's negligence, you have a right to feel angry. However, over time, that anger will subside and life will go on. Sometimes, a professional like Joe with a similar experience can help. Families have the right and need to grieve and the right to seek justice.

The courts will never be able to make up for the loss of a loved one. That's not what the legal system is designed to do. It cannot bring a loved one back. That great loss must and deserves to be recognized and the wrong can be dealt with financially-the only remedy the court can provide. Many times the family needs this type of compensation to maintain their homes and to provide for the education of their children. The party at fault needs to be made to realize the impact of their actions so they avoid hurting someone else. Money is the only way of compensating for the loss. The court can do no more. It can never make up for it.

One of Joe's fondest memories is that of going duck hunting with his son. It's a passion they shared together. After Jody's death, Joe chose never to go duck hunting again. Instead, he commissioned a local sculptor to create a memorial to the memory of his son. The image on the home page of this site is that tribute. This statue stands in Cave Hill Cemetery, in Louisville.

You and your family may be dealing with a devastating situation. When you're ready, it'll be time to speak with someone about it. If you need to enlist the help of someone who truly knows how important this is, Joe may be the person you'll trust.
